The FCASV invites you to join us on May 12th th for a free one-day training hosted by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office

Trauma-informed sexual assault investigations are best practices used at law enforcement agencies around the country. Based on new science of how trauma affects the brain & victim behavior & with the use of new interview techniques developed by military investigators, these investigations yield better evidence to hold offenders accountable. They also help law enforcement establish a more effective relationship with victims & improve victims’ overall experience with the investigation.

The ESAR certified instructors Captain Mike Schentrup and Sergeant Rebekah McKinzie with Gainesville Police Department will provide an in-depth explanation of the following topics:

Sexual Assault—Extent of the Problem

Victim's Rights

Neurobiology of Trauma

Trauma-Informed Response

Signs of Lying or Signs of Trauma?

Victim/Survivor Interviewing: Effective Interviewing and Effective Listening

Practice Trauma-Informed Interviewing
